Lovin' Mo Willems

I don’t know about all of you – but my students LOVE Mo Willems, so the more I can incorporate his books into my lesson planning the better! The colors are bright, the characters are infectious, and the story lines are simple and easy to understand. One thing that I really like about Mo Willems is that he uses speech bubbles to tell the story. This makes comprehension a breeze and the kiddos love it! It can also serve as a springboard for some really cute writing activities!

In the activity below, students use speech bubbles to write their own storyboard! There are two storyboard printables to choose from. The first has Willems-inspired characters filled in. In the second, students are free to create their own characters! This activity is perfect for a Writer's Workshop Mini-Lesson, and will work with pretty much any Willems book that uses speech bubbles. I used super cute graphics from ScrappinDoodles.com and DigiwebStudio.com to create this printable. Enjoy!

I always love finding out more about what inspires great authors. Check out this video interview with Mo Willems to learn about how he creates his adorable and hilarious stories!

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello all! After several months of creating cute and engaging classroom resources, I have decided to enter to the blogosphere! I admit that I am a little nervous, but also very excited about this. So – why blog? First of all, I want to be able to more easily connect with all of you wonderful people who like the products I create! Second, I want to become more involved in the fabulous community that is TpT...such an amazing group of people who show the world what we teachers can really do! Last, I have noticed that as I create products, there is so much that I want to tell you all. Like how I use the product, how you can use it, how I organized the materials, when I use it, and so on, and so on!
